On Friday 12 August 2022, the Independent Hospital and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) commenced a formal transition as its functions were expanded to include the provision of costing and pricing advice on aged care services and the agency renamed to the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA).
Updates to reflect the expansion are currently underway.
The Australian Classification Exchange (ACE) is a platform hosted by the Independent Hospital and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) relating to the following classification systems:
- ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS classification system: The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM), Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI), Australian Coding Standards (ACS)
- AR-DRG classification system: Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups
ACE provides a public platform to submit classification enhancements for ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and modifications to AR-DRGs, known as Public Submissions, for the potential incorporation in a future release of the classification.
ACE also provides the ability for users to review Coding Rules related to the current edition of the ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS classification system. Nominated jurisdictional representatives of coding committees may also use ACE to submit coding queries on how to apply the classification.
To purchase the classification products related to ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and AR-DRG visit the Lane Print website.

The AR-DRG classification system is used in public and private hospitals in Australia to classify admitted acute episodes of care. Downloads and resources for the most recent versions are available from the IHACPA website:
